Jacksonville will be the site of ESPN’s nationally televised “Friday Night Fights” on June 28, the first time the city has hosted a televised pro bout in at least a decade.

The main event on the card at Veterans Memorial Arena is a 10-round between top middleweights Sergio Mora of Los Angeles and Grzegorz Proksa of Poland. Several other bouts are on the undercard, including one involving Chris Vendola, a heavyweight from Fernandina Beach.

“Boxing of this magnitude hasn't been here for a long time,’’ Brewer said. “We’re going to market it and promote it.’’

The main bout features Mora (23-2), a former WBC light middleweight champion, and Proksa (29-2),a two-time European Boxing Union middleweight champ. Also on the undercard: a 10-round junior middleweight between unbeaten Brazilian Patrick Teixeira (19-0, 17 KOs) and Marcus Willis (13-2-2) of Fort Myers and a heavyweight bout involving the 44-year-old Vendola (5-4).  “It’s a fighter’s dream to fight in his hometown,’’ Vendola said. click here
